Bharatanatyam Classes at WeGotGuru

Bharathanatyam  is a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu.

It was described in the treatise Natya Shastra by Bharata around the beginning of the common era. Bharata Natyam is known for its grace, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque poses. Lord Shiva is considered the God of this dance form.

Today, it is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over the world, although it is more commonly danced by women.

Mrs. C.K. Amirthavalli, was initiated into Bharatanatyam by Guru. Smt.K. Lalitha of Saraswathi Gana Nilayam, Chennai. She had been trained from then, did her arangetram and later when she moved to Bangalore, joined Kalakshithi, an institution by Guru Prof Mr. M.R. Krishnamurthy, fondly known as kittu sir; a direct disciple of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale.

As a person with passion for this art and under the able guidance of Kittu sir, she completed her M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) in Bharatanatyam from Kalai Kaviri college of fine arts affiliated toBharatidasan University, Trichy.

She has participated in several kalakshithi in house performances, as well as given performances in Trichy, Padmabhaswamy temple, Trivandrum, Mantralayam, Saibaba temple, etc

She has been the nattuvangist for the various programmes conducted by Kalakshithi as well as an examiner for dance exams.
