EDM: Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is a genre which involves the electronic music created by using dozens of unique digitalized tunes and percussive beats.

These kind of music is composed and produced by the disc jockeys (DJs) with special and technical instruments such as synthesizers, mixers, MIDI controlling boards, samplers and effects units.

This genre showed the new phase in music since 1980’s and became a dominant genre since 2000’s when there was an increased interest in the club culture among the music lovers. So it’s preferably made for raves, nightclubs and for the fests and events. But over a period of time it also received the place in mainstreams.

Skrillex, Diplo, David Guetta, etc. are the artists who are well recognized for this genre.

R&B:

The genre that basically clubs the elements and the vibes of the very commercial genres like; Pop, Soul, Blues, Hip Hop, etc. R&B rose to popularity in late 70s.

Basically this genre stands out for a customized and catchy form of music that everyone can understand and enjoy. The lyrical theme of this genre would basically be about the culture, the pain, struggle and freedom. But since a decade that trend had been changed a bit towards the teens, love, drugs and the night life of the teenagers, by the recent artists. R&B is never basically bound to just a musical instruments. When it comes to composing the R&B tracks artists have a lot of freedom to explore the tunes irrespective to the instruments that produce such tunes. Miley Cyrus, Brittney Spears, Drake, Michael Jackson, etc. are the prominent artists from this genre. This genres is the most successful genre of all time and it never dies.

Hip Hop:

Hip Hop is also known as Rap. This type of music originated among the African Americans in the late 70s. Rhyming as well as the rhythmic flow of words in a pace is generally the main texture of the Hip Hop music. It works basically over the synthesized bass lines and beats. It is majorly characterized by the Hip Hop culture, including DJing, scratching, Beat Boxing, Turntablism and some instrumentals.

 

Rock:

Rock is the third famous genre. It actually originated in the name of “Rock and Roll”. Later it had been explored, experimented and also explained into numerous subgenres. Rock basically considered as the genre that clubs the elements of Jazz, Blues, Country and other classical music styles. The composing of rock tracks centered basically on electric guitar, drums and electric bass. These type of music will always be worked on by a rock group/band. Rock originated in late 1940s but got recognized and enjoyed by the world since the late 50s.  The lyrical themes of this genre center on diversified topics such as love, pain, politics and even psychological effects.

Jazz:

Jazz can also be considered as the advanced version of Blues. It basically originated in the late 19th century from black communities of New Orleans. Jazz has always been a “Not Easy” genre to deal with since it requires a solid proficiency in the theories of music and the extensive knowledge in handling or understanding the orchestral instruments. It’s also known as one of the original art form of America. Jazz introduced number of female artists like Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, etc. Jazz actually has its roots in both Western and European culture. Jazz is meant to showcase the creativity and the dynamics of the music in the way improvisations, Polyrhythms as well as Polyphonic Vocals.
